Kosali Kisan Sabha Threatens To Intensify Farmers’ Stir In Odisha’s Balangir
Balangir: Members of Kosali Kisan Sabha (KKS) led by former Balangir MP Balgopal Mishra staged ‘Chakka Jam’ as part of nationwide protest on National Highway-26 at Salebhata in the district for three hours on Saturday.
Extending their support to agitating farmers in New Delhi, the KKS activists demanded withdrawal of the contentious farm laws of the Centre. They also sought procurement of paddy lying in different mandis at MSP rate from the farmers immediately.
Later, they submitted a memorandum addressed to President of India to sub-collector Sudhakar Nayak to press their demands.
Mishra threatened that if the government fails to take appropriate steps to solve the farmers’ problems, they would intensify the agitation.
