Kunduli Suicide Case: Crime Branch To Probe Into SFSL Report
Bhubaneswar: Taking note of the Opposition outcry over incongruity in the report of the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) pertaining to the gang rape of the minor girl in Kunduli in Odisha’s Koraput district, the Director General of Police (DGP) on Monday directed the State Crime Branch police into the matter.
“I have asked the ADG, Crime Branch to probe into the matter and submit report at the earliest possible,” DGP RP Sharma told the media.
The directive to this effect came in response to the report by a local TV channel alleging that the SFSL in its first report had mentioned about the presence of semen of two persons in the undergarment of the victim. But there was no such mention in its second report it had submitted to the court.
Amid hue and cry, the SFSL in a release on Sunday had clarified that the articles of the rape victim it had received were examined in four stages with the help of latest and sophisticated equipment to check any error.
It also said that the articles were sent to Serology and DNA divisions to conduct a series of inter-divisional examinations.
The final report was prepared by the Biology division in line with the reports from Serology and DNA sections and submitted to the court after recommendation of the SFSL director.
