Hyderabad/Berhampur: The death toll of Odia labourers in the tragic blast at a granite quarry in Andhra Pradesh went up to four on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Rajendra Nahaka of Diandein village under Rambha police limits in Ganjam district. He was undergoing treatment at a government hospital at Kurnool in the neighbouring state.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the three Odia labourers, which arrived at Jharedi Radhagobindpur village in an ambulance van from Kurnool on Monday evening, were consigned to flames.
The charred remains of Duryodhan Nahaka and Manoranjan Nahaka of Nuagaon village under Rambha police limits were identified a day after the mishap and that of Bhima Nahaka of Jharedi village in Ganjam district on Sunday. They had died following the blast on August 3.
The condition of the other two injured, Pandab Nahaka of Badagunjara village, Ramachandra of Bitanabala village of Rambha block, continues to be critical, hospital sources said.
Expressing grief over the death of three Odia labourers, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday had announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of the kin of the deceased and free treatment of those injured in the blast.
The Andhra Pradesh government had also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the family of the deceased.
