LAccMI Buses To Run In Cuttack District By Feb-End, Says Pandian
Cuttack: Public transport service under Odisha government’s LAccMI scheme will be launched in Cuttack district in February, said 5t and Nabin Odisha chairman VK Pandian on Friday.
Addressing the BJD workers and activists at a meeting in Balijatra ground in the city, Pandian said the government will run LAccMI buses in every panchayat of the district by the end of February. For the convenience of the passengers, at least three buses will ply everyday, he added.
Stating that the people have already got the benefits of the LAccMI scheme in 14 districts, he said it would be highly beneficial for the women as they can travel in the bus by booking ticket for Rs 5.
Pandian also appealed to the party workers to work for garnering at least 50% votes for BJD in the coming elections to return Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to power again. “Cuttack holds special significance for the chief minister as it is his birthplace. He has taken initiative for several development works for the city including transformation of Taladanda canal, SCB Medical College and Hospital and Badambadi bus stand,” he added.
Cuttack MP of the party Bhartruhari Mahtab was conspicuous by his absence at the party meeting. Cuttack district president of the party Debasis Samantray said Mahtab has informed that he would not be able to attend the meeting due to his personal engagement.
It may be noted that the LAccMI scheme was first started in Malkangari district under the 5T initiative of the government. It facilitates bus service from panchayats to blocks in every district at a fare of just Rs 5. As per plan, more than 1,000 Laxmi buses will run across the state and those will be operated by Mission Shakti members.
