Cuttack: Baripada Reserve Inspector Ashok Sethi has yet again landed in a soup with a woman constable of the Government Railway Police (GRP) station here accusing him and an Assistant Armourer of attempting to rape her on Saturday night.
He was earlier in news for meting out ‘kneel punishment’ to four Home Guard sentries, including a woman constable, for not wearing proper uniform while on duty.
Meanwhile, GRP has lodged a case under Sections 376, 511, 506, 294 and 34 of the IPC on the basis of the complaint filed by the woman constable against the two senior officers.
As per the complaint, Sethi and another staff entered the complainant’s house forcefully, misbehaved and threatened her with dire consequences on August 26.
The GRP has asked two women police officers to investigate the case. The probe team reportedly revisited the victim’s house on Sunday and found injury mark on her body and seized her clothes that were torn up during the incident.
“Appropriate action would be taken after a detailed investigation into the matter, including medical examination of the complainant,” Railway SP Sanjay Kaushal said.
Sethi, however, refuted the allegation. “I was busy doing roll call at around 4:30PM when the lady constable misbehaved and later apologized. It was from media that I learnt that such allegations have been brought against me,” he said.
