Bhubaneswar: A lady homeguard attempted self immolation at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here on Tuesday.
According to available information, the woman poured kerosene on her body and lit a fire. However, police personnel deployed at the spot thwarted the attempt and rescued her.
She was rushed to Capital Hospital with burn injuries on her leg.
On being asked about the reason behind the bid, the victim attributed it to the DCP not assigning her any duty.
