Mumbai: A woman who claimed to have met the ‘murdered’ Sheena Bora six months ago in Kashmir is ready to record her statement before Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Sheena’s mother Indrani Mukherjea, the prime accused in the murder case, recently wrote to the CBI stating that she had met a woman in prison who made the sensational claim.
“I’ve been informed by my client Indrani Mukherjea that a lady officer has informed her that she met Sheena Bora on June 24 near Dal Lake. This officer is ready to record her statement before CBI. We’ll file an application to direct CBI to conduct a fair probe,” Indrani’s lawyer Sana R Khan told ANI.
Indrani referred to the female prisoner as a ‘female government official’ in her letter to CBI, which is investigating the case.
Sheena, 24 then, was allegedly strangled to death in a car by her mother with assistance from her second husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai in April 2012. Sheena’s body was allegedly burnt and dumped in a forest in Raigad district.
Indrani was arrested three years later and has been lodged in Mumbai’s Byculla prison since then.
Indrani’s former husband Peter Mukherjea, who was also arrested for being part of the murder conspiracy, is out on bail.
Indrani and Peter were granted divorce by a family court in Mumbai in October 2019.
