Bhubaneswar: The lagna (auspicious time for ritual) of ‘Nabanna Lagi’ ritual of Nuakhai Festival was fixed in Western Odisha on Friday.
Nabanna Lagi ritual will be performed between 8.50 am and 10.38 am on September 3.
The Lagna was decided at a Pandit Mahasabha (meeting of priests), held at the office of Patna Maharaja.
Nuakhai or Nuankhai is one of the most important festivals in Western Odisha.
As per the Lagna, the season’s first crop, ‘Nabanna’ is offered to Goddess Samaleswari, the presiding deity of Sambalpur.
