Lucknow: Union minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra was on Monday sent to three-day police custody in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence eight days ago.
Ashish, who was named in an FIR based on allegations that his SUV mowed down four farmers at the anti-farm law protest at UP’s Lakhimpur district, was arrested four days later after the Supreme Court asked the state government to file a report within one day on how many people have been held.
UP police arrested Ashish around 11 pm on Saturday after nearly 12 hours of interrogation, following which a local court remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.
Besides four farmers, a local journalist and three BJP workers died in the violence on October 3.
