New Delhi: Circular designs, great creativity and the oomph that leaves you in awe. That describes the hustle and bustle at the Lakme Fashion Week here on Day 1.
From providing a platform to new-age designers, promoting practical designing to an edge-of-the-seat curation for the evening shows, the fashion week is not for the faint-hearted.
The day began with the GENNEXT show, showcasing four different designers and their collections shining on stage. The designs were derived from things as simple as an afternoon thought to the roots of Ladakh.
Anurag Gupta and his brilliant collection ‘Ek Katha’ presented a fantastic take on slow fashion clothing. The colours and flow of the fabric exuded comfort and allure simultaneously.
The Payal Pratap show was beautifully curated, with soft, ambient lights and floral elements in the collection. The colours made it feel as if we were in the midst of a serene meadow as the silhouettes conveyed an easy, breezy afternoon vibe.
In between all the shows, the cherry on top was the CDC challenge and its competitors, ready with sustainable takes to change the fashion industry one outfit at a time.
The winners were ‘RKIVE CITY’, a Delhi-based brand which received Rs 15 lakh as prize money and an opportunity to exhibit in LFW 2025.
The grand day ended with a bang, leaving the audience yearning for more.
