Kanpur: It took police four days to arrest tobacco tycoon KK Mishra’s son Shivam Mishra in connection with a Lamborghini crash.
However, within a few hours, Shivam – who was apparently driving the car — was granted bail.
The Rs 10-crore Lamborghini Revuelto rammed an autorickshaw and a motorcycle before crashing into a pole, leaving six people injured.
A video of the incident, which took place on Sunday, shows Mishra’s bouncers pulling him out of the driver’s seat. Even eyewitnesses said Shivam was driving the car, but his lawyer has repeatedly claimed he was not driving at the time of the accident.
Shivam’s counsel also claimed that his driver, Mohan, was driving the car.
On Wednesday, Mohan told a Kanpur court that he had been driving the car.
He said he had lost control of the vehicle after Shivam suffered a sudden seizure.
Shivam’s family earlier claimed he suffers from epilepsy.
“I was driving the car when the accident happened. Suddenly, he had a seizure and fell on me… I got scared and was trying to hold him with one hand. The car hit a three-wheeler,” Mohan claimed, adding that an auto locking system prevented him from getting out of the car immediately after the accident, prompting him to shift Shivam to the driver’s seat.
A fresh video showed one of Shivam’s bouncers removing the number plate from the luxury vehicle.
In the 36-second video, Mishra is seen trying to pull out the number plate from the luxury car, as police personnel stand nearby.
