Jagatsinghpur: Three days after violent clashes between villagers and police at Dhinkia, the site of JSW’s proposed steel plant, the land acquisition work for the project resumed on Monday.
More than 45 betel vines were measured at Mahal Patna village under Dhinkia panchayat on the day. Total 304 betel vines have been demolished in the panchayat, while while 225 affected betel vine owners have been paid compensation of over Rs 5.66 crore.
Similarly, the construction of the boundary wall of the project is underway by IDCO. The construction contractor said the work of boundary wall from Patan side will start subsequently.
Meanwhile, Jagatsinghpur SP Akhileshwar Singh visited villages in the panchayat and held discussion with the people at the Phulkhai temple and the panchayat office on Sunday night. He appealed to them to lead norml life without fearing the police.
Since betel vines are being demolished with the consent of their owners, anybody having complaints can contact the administration directly, he added.
