Land Allotted To Non-Odia Industrialists By IDCO In Odisha’s Khurda, No Sign Of Industries: Suresh Routray

Bhubaneswar: Congress MLA Suresh Routray on Friday alleged that huge tracts of land in Odisha’s Khurda district had been allotted to non-Odia industrialists by IDCO for development of industries. He further claimed that no industry has come up on the land.

Routray raised the issue in the state Assembly and sought a reply from state Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Pratap Keshari Deb.

Routray, who is the MLA from Jatni in Khurda district, said that IDCO has allotted land to non-Odia industrialists in places like Chandrasekharpur, Darutheng, Andharua, Kantabada and areas near Barunei, among others, for the development of industries.

He, however, claimed that there was no sight of any industry on the allotted land. He further claimed that instead of industries, educational institutes, coaching centres and schools have come up on the allotted land.

Routray then sought a status report from Deb.

Replying to him, Deb said that he was not aware of schools and coaching centres coming up on land allotted by IDCO and asked Routray to furnish more details, if any.

Deb also said that after he became minister, he has sought a status report on land allotted to industries in the state from 1985 to the present.
