Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch police on Monday took the chief finance officer (CFO) of Odisha Television (OTV) Ltd, Manoranjan Sarangi, on remand for two days for further interrogation in connection with the alleged land grabbing at Sarua village in Khurda district.
Though the EOW had sought more days of remand, the SDJM court granted two days.
Notably, EOW officials had picked Sarangi from his house at Chakeisiani village on Sunday morning.
In a press release on Sunday, EOW had said that the inquiry ordered by the government revealed that Odisha InfraTech Pvt Ltd had purchased land belonging to scheduled caste persons circumventing rules/laws using forgery/cheating/intimidation and other dubious methods with an intention to cause losses to them.
“Accordingly, a criminal case under Sections 420/423/467/468/471/120-B IPC along with Sections 3 (1) (g) (q) of SC & ST (POA) Act was registered and Manoranjan Sarangi, one of the directors of Odisha InfraTech Pvt Ltd, was arrested today,” it said.
