Landfall Of Cyclone Yaas Delayed: Odisha SRC Explains 2 Major Developments

Bhubaneswar: The landfall of Cyclone Yaas as a very severe cyclonic storm along Odisha coast has been delayed with the velocity decreasing to 12 kmph from 15 to 16 kmph.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) P K Jena informed that the landfall may start around 10-11 am on Wednesday with wind speed of around 130-140 kmph gusting to 155 kmph.

“The landfall will take place north of Dhamra. It is difficult to say whether 30 km of north or 35 km of north. We have been tweeting that it would cross Basudevpur-Bahanaga area ( slight north/ south of the area),” he added.

The SRC said that the cyclone has not intensified further after 2 am. “Since there has been a fall in intensification, we expect the wind speed to be around 130-140 kmph at the time of landfall instead of 165 kmph gusting to 185 kmph,” he said.
