Rayagada: A landmine was found on the roadside at Chatikana in Rayagada on Thursday. Locals spotted it and informed the police.
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, a scientific team and sniffer dogs reached the spot and diffused the landmine.
It is suspected that Maoists may have planted the powerful landmine, targeting security personnel engaged in anti-extremist exercises in the area.
Maoists observed Bharat Bandh on Thursday, the last day of Martyrs’ Week.
