Landslide: Train Services Restored In Odisha’s Koraput

Bhubaneswar: The train services between Manabar and Jarati stations in Koraput-Jagadalpur railway section, which were cancelled due to landslide, have been restored.

According to a release of East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Tuesday, loaded goods train started running in the section of Kottavalasa-Koraput-Kirandul (KK) rail line at 9 am on the day.

General Manager of ECoR Manoj Sharma personally visited the affected spot and monitored the restoration work. Railway staff along with excavators and stone breakers were engaged to clear the debris from the blocked train tracks.

After track was declared ready on Monday night, goods train at 10 kmph and subsequent goods trains at 20 kmph started running. The Over Head Equipment (OHE) was fit and charged at about 2 am.

First diesel light engine passed the affected site towards Jarati station. Then diesel empty goods train left Manabar at 2.55 am and reached Jarati at 3.52 am. Finally, loaded goods train with speed limit started running in the section.

It may be noted that the ECoR cancelled several trains after boulders and soil came crashing down on the track at around 3 am on September 24 when work for doubling of the line was underway.
