Laser Scanning To Detect Damage In Jagannath Temple In Puri
Puri: Laser scanning will be carried out inside the Jagannath temple, here the day after the Rath Yatra to detect any damage in the structure.
The scanning will be done at the Garbha Griha (sanctum sanctorium), Nata Mandap (dance platform), Jagamohan (assembly hall) and Bhoga Mandap (dining space) and other places. Repair works will be taken up in case of damage, sources said.
A team of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) led by Superintendent of Odisha circle Arun Kumar Mallick inspected the condition of the temple on Saturday.
“The expert committee will visit the Jagannath temple after Rath Yatra. The repairs will be carried out after consultation and approval of the committee. The damaged stones of the temple will also be replaced,” said Mallick.
“A document will be prepared after the laser scanning. The repair work will be started from July 14,” he added.
