Mumbai: For someone who was 92 years old, Lata Mangeshkar was quite a regular on social media. She rarely missed wishing eminent personalities on their birthday, condoling deaths or remembering departed souls on birth or death anniversaries.
In fact, her last post was just four days before being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. She tweeted in Marathi at 11.27 pm on January 4, 2022 about the death of social worker Sindutai Sakpal. Deeply saddened by the passing away of ‘Vatsalyasindhu, Lata described her as the mother of orphans and great social worker whose death caused immense damage to society.

Just over an hour before that on the same night, Lata had posted another tweet to pay tributes to ‘Pancham’ (Rahul Dev Burman) on his death anniversary. Along with a note saluting the famous music director, Lata shared a video of the song “tujhse naraz nahi zindagi” from the film Masoom. RD had composed the music for the 1983 movie while Lata sung the immortal song.

While she was in hospital battling the after-effects of COVID and pneumonia, there were a couple of posts from her Twitter accounts by someone from her family, updating Lata’s condition and requesting netizens to refrain from spreading health-related rumours.
The ‘Nightingale of India’ passed away on February 6.

On Instagram, Lata was last active on new year’s day, 2022, when she dedicated her post to late father Deenanath Mangeshkar. She posted a video also, in which she pays tribute to her father.
