Bhubaneswar: Shooting of S S Rajamouli’s much-anticipated ‘SSMB29’, featuring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, is currently underway in Odisha’s Koraput.
Amid all efforts by the production team to project under wraps, a video purportedly from the sets at the scenic Talamali Hills under the Semiliguda block, went viral on social media, creating concern among netizens, who criticised those responsible for the leak and urged its immediate removal.
In the leaked video, Mahesh Babu is seen walking and a supporting actor pushing him toward another actor (presumably Prithviraj Sukumaran) seated in a wheelchair. In the final moments, Mahesh Babu is made to kneel with guns pointed at him.
According to sources, the district administration has granted the unit permission until March 28 and implemented a three-layer security arrangement with people gathering in hordes eager to witness the filming. The major shooting locations include scenic spots like Deomali, Talamali, and Machkund, with the first schedule primarily focused on Talamali.
Earlier, footage of a large set constructed on Talamali hilltop, which is expected to serve as a major backdrop for the film’s upcoming schedule, was widely shared on social media.
Priyanka, who is making her much-awaited comeback with ‘SSMB29’, will soon join the other star cast for the shoot in Odisha. She has reportedly been chosen for the globe-trotting adventure film for her international appeal and she already begun preparing for her role, which involves significant action sequences alongside Mahesh Babu, the ET reported.
Her last Indian film was ‘The Sky Is Pink.
The action-packed jungle adventure film, which is already touted to be the next global blockbuster, is being made under the Durga Art banner with a massive budget of approximately ₹1,000 crore.

Last year, ‘Pushpa 2’, directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun, was filmed in Machhkund, Lamtaput and Duduma. Tollywood superstar Venkatesh’s recent hit film ‘Sankranthiki Vasthunam; had key scenes shot at Balda Caves in Koraput. Actress Anushka Shetty had also visited the region last year for the film ‘Ghaati’, shot extensively in Deomali, Jeypore, Kolab, and Machhkund.
