Mumbai: Senior actor Amitabh Bachchan, who flew from Mumbai to Surat for the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) season 3, was mobbed by fans on Friday.
A video of the veteran actor inside a building started doing the rounds on social media, showing the insensitivity of the crowd gathered there.
In the viral video, Big B’s security personnel and police are seen struggling to handle the crowd and clear the way for the veteran.
“Leave him alone, he is 83,” a fan posted.
Another wrote, “Why would you jump on him? He’s an actor but also a human.”
One person , “Don’t do this, it is horrible. It’s overwhelming.”
An Instagram user commented, “Mobbing an elderly, even if he is an actor, isn’t done. Let him be. Click pictures from a distance.”
Meanwhile, ISPL Season 3 kicked off on Friday at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium.
The event is a month-long festival of high-octane tennis-ball T10 cricket and a vibrant celebration of India’s street-cricket culture, stated a release from ISPL.
The season 3 opener will see defending champions Majhi Mumbai take on Srinagar Ke Veer.
Amitabh is the co-owner of Majhi Mumbai, with Neeti Agarwal.
On the work front, Amitabh was last seen with Rajinikanth in Tamil action-drama ‘Vettaiyan’, directed by TJ Gnanavel and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah’s Lyca Productions.
