Jabalpur/New Delhi: An ordnance factory of the Indian Army in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur has cancelled leaves of all employees and officers who had applied for more than two days, reports claimed.

The Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK) in Jabalpur, one of the largest facilities under Munitions India Limited (MIL), has reportedly taken the decision to fulfill ambitious production goals set for the fiscal year.

But this comes at a time when tension between India and Pakistan has escalated following the terror attack at Pahalgam, claiming 26 lives.

Despite the setback of not meeting the April production target, the administration is determined to keep up with the demand by maintaining a full workforce, reported oneindia.com. The report also claims that similar moves have been taken at several other ordnance manufacturing units across the country.

Deputy Director, Works Manager Avinash Shankar, said the decision was taken to meet production targets, reported Hindustan Times. The Ordnance Factories of the Indian Army are primarily engaged in manufacture of arms, ammunitions, equipment, armoured vehicles and personnel carriers, transport vehicles, clothings and general stores items.

Indian Army gets Russian-origin Igla-S missiles, Pak Ranger detained

The Indian Army received new supplies of the Russian-origin Igla-S missiles as part of a contract inked under the emergency procurement powers given by the Centre to the forces, the Hindustan Times reported.

The supplies were received a week ago and are being deployed along forward areas to tackle the threat from enemy fighter aircraft, choppers and drones on the borders, sources told ANI.

The Army has also issued tender for buying 48 more launchers and around 90 missiles of the VSHORADS (IR) under fast track procedures.

Meanwhile, a Pakistani Ranger was apprehended by the BSF from along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan, reports citing official sources on Saturday stated.

‘Gulf states concerned over deteriorating security in South Asia’

Jassim Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), called for resumption of dialouge between India and Pakistan. He has expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in South Asia.

Condemning the Pahalgam terror attack, he also reiterated the GCC states’ call for the international community to intensify efforts to find a peaceful resolution between the two neighbouring countries.
