Lecturer Of Odisha’s Degree College Writes Exam For Absentee Student, Arrested

Bhubaneswar: A female lecturer has been arrested for allegedly appearing in an examination on behalf of a student at Udala Luipa Degree Mahavidyalaya at Radho in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

The accused has been identified as Tulika Asha, a lecturer of the Odia department of the institution.

According to sources, she wrote the fourth-semester examination of the Zoology department on July 27 and also signed as an examination invigilator on the answersheet.

After the incident came to the fore, the college principal issued a show-cause notice to the lecturer on August 8. She, however, threatened the principal with dire consequence, following which the latter lodged a complaint with Udala police.

“One of the invigilators caught the lecturer writing the exam for an absent student on July 27. It was found that she had also written the exam the previous day,” said principal of the college, Gauranga Mohapatra.

Police registered a case on the basis of the complaint and arrested the lecturer.
