Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the 12-km street light facility on Cuttack-Puri bypass on Wednesday evening.
Speaking on the occasion, Naveen said the road from Palasuni Chhak to Lingipur will have LED lights for the safe of vehicle drivers. Besides ensuring safety of the travellers on the stretch, the lights will save the energy bill, he added.
The facility, set up by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), has 387 pillars fitted with 774 bulbs of 120 watt and three high-mast lights at Lingipur, Kesura and Pandra. Tourism department has invested Rs 2.85 crore in the project.
The BMC, which has already provided more than 40,000 streets lights at different places under its jurisdiction, aims at extending the lighting facility at a cost of Rs 6.7 crore.
Several ministers, MLAs and BMC commissioner were present on the occasion.
