Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday cleared air about the inclusion of Anganwadi workers under its flagship scheme Subhadra Yojana.

All the Anganwadi workers, who have been left out, will receive the financial assistance under Subhadra Yojana in the third phase of disbursement of money, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said.

She said many Anganwadi workers, who were not included under the scheme in the first and second phase, have doubts. I assure them that they will get assistance in the third phase.”

Regarding rejection of around 2.67 lakh applications, Parida said the Cabinet has decided to recheck the rejected applications so that not a single eligible beneficiary is excluded. “A detailed guideline for reviewing the rejected application will be released on November 1,” she said.

The third-phase disbursement will cover those who have not received the money in the first two phases, she said, adding that more than 1 crore women have applied under the scheme, which ensures financial assistance for those aged 21-60 years, totalling Rs 50,000 over five years from 2024 to 2029.

The process is likely to begin in the first week of November after the October 31 deadline by which the beneficiaries were asked to update their bank details and correct any other mistakes.

The flagship scheme of the Mohan Majhi government was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17. Around 60 lakh women beneficiaries have received the first instalment of Rs 5,000 under Subhadra Yojana in the first two phases. While around 25 lakh women received the money in the first phase, the amount was credited to bank accounts of beneficiaries in the second phase on October 9.

The second instalment is likely to be credited on International Women’s Day (March 8, 2025) and the third on Rakhi Purnima (August 9) respectively next year, sources said
