Bhubaneswar: An eight-year-old male leopard died in Nandankanan Zoological
Park here on Monday, zoo sources informed.
On Sunday, the feline was shifted to an isolated enclosure for treatment after it
fell ill. However, it was found dead at around 5 am. The
exact reason behind the animal’s death could be ascertained after
receiving the post-mortem report from the experts of College of
Veterinary Science, zoo officials informed.
The leopard was brought to the zoo in March 2013 from Junagarh
zoo in Gujarat.
With i’s death, the number of leopards in Nandankanan Zoo has reduced
to seven.
On September 25, the lone male zebra, which was brought from
Tel Aviv zoo in 2015, was found dead in the zoo.
