Nuapada: With leopards continuing to unleash havoc in Odisha’s Nuapada district, a calf was dragged from a cattle shed and killed at Pabartola village under Sadar block.
Sources said the carcass of the animal belonging to one Titiram Satnami was found on Tuesday morning. Villagers have informed forest officials about the incident.
Leopards had allegedly devoured two calves two days ago at Belardana and Sirili villages under Komna block. One calf belonged to Arjun Dharua of Belardana while the other was of Gopinath Majhi of Sirili village. Komna ranger Debadatta Sutar and forest officials had visited the spot and found pug marks
Notably, a leopard had killed the calf of a villager of Kodapali under Dharambandha police limits while it was grazing in the nearby forest on March 25. Later, during investigation, forest officials had found pug marks of a wild animal.
As many as 16 domestic animals and an elderly woman have been killed by leopard in the district in the last one month. Over six domestic animals and a woman, identified as Sanamati Barik (65), of Jalamadhei village under Komna block have fallen victim to the big cats.
