New Delhi: A letter petition was filed before the Chief Justice of India on Friday seeking to direct the bench headed by Justice Surya Kant to withdraw the oral remarks made against Nupur Sharma, Live Law tweeted.
The letter petition, moved by Gau Mahasabha leader Ajay Gautam, contended that observations made by the vacation bench of Justices Kant and JB Pardiwala against Nupur are uncalled for.

Justices Kant and Pardiwala came down heavily on the now-suspended BJP spokesperson earlier in the day for making ‘disturbing’ comments against Prophet Muhammad.
Accusing Nupur of “igniting emotions across the country”, the Supreme Court said she owed the nation an apology.
“This lady is single-handedly responsible for what is happening in the country. She and her loose tongue has set the entire country on fire,” the justices observed.
The apex court was hearing Nupur’s petition seeking transfer of several FIRs filed against her in courts of different cities to Delhi.
