An official release said that the FPS license granted to the dealers for operating Public Distribution System (PDS) was valid from October 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023 which required extension for a further period of one year.

The decision will facilitate for renewal of existing FPS licenses for the period from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024 if there is no genuine public complaint or no action has been initiated under Essential Commodities Act against the existing dealer.

This will also facilitate new dealers issued with FPS license to operate till March 31, 2024.

It may be noted here that the PDS in the state is managed 13,428 FPS out of which 6,568 are institutional dealers and 6,860 are private dealers.
