Lightning strike kills 8 in chhattisgarh



Bhubaneswar: Three persons were killed in separate lightning strike incidents in Odisha’s Ganjam and Dhenkanal districts on Tuesday as thunderstorms affected several parts of the state.

palli village under Sheragada block was struck by lightning while working in a field.

Following the incident, family members and local residents rushed him to the Sheragada Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared him dead upon arrival, sources said.

Another lightning-related fatality was reported from Dashipur village under the Dighapahandi area of Ganjam district.

Kahna Reddy was playing cricket with friends at a ground near his home when lightning suddenly struck the area. He suffered critical injuries and died on the spot, leaving his family and community devastated.

A third death was reported from Goradia village in Kamakhyanagar area of Dhenkanal district.

Sources said Sushanta Kumar Sethi had reportedly gone to a field for work when weather conditions worsened. He was struck by lightning during the thunderstorm and died as a result of his injuries.
