Bhubaneswar: After two days of impasse over the land dispute among the servitors’ bodies, the rituals of Lord Siva at Lingaraj Temple began on Wednesday afternoon.
“The Abakasha Niti of the Lord began after a written assurance by the endowment commissioner to sincerely look into their demands,” president of Brahmana Nijog, Biranchi Narayan Pati told mediapersons here.
To resolve the impasse, executive officer of the Lingaraj Temple Trust Pradip Kumar Sahu had convened a meeting of the Nijogs earlier in the day in presence of the Endowment commissioner.
The Brahmana Nijog have accused the Badu Nijog of illegally constructing a building on a land, belonging to Lord Lingaraj on the bank of Gangua river in Nuagan Mouza, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. Pujapanda Nijog has also objected to the construction.
The sevayats of the two nijogs stated that the temple administration has registered a case against Badu Nijog for the illegal construction. They also urged the temple administration, local MLA and district collector to intervene in the matter to immediately take repossession of the land.
Admitting that the land dispute cannot be resolved in a day, Sahu said he has requested police, the Khurda district magistrate and administration to demolish the illegal construction by Badu Nijog on the land which belongs to the shrine.
