Lingaraj Temple In Odisha Capital Reopens, Sevayats Get First Darshan

Bhubaneswar: After being closed for almost nine months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lingaraj temple in the city reopened on Sunday.

As per the protocols for the reopening, the sevayats and their family members will be allowed to enter the shrine for darshan of Lord Shiva from December 27 to 31.

Next, the denizens of Bhubaneswar will be allowed entry for three days between January 3 and 5. Darshan for general public will start from January 6.

Prior to the reopening of the temple, the outer premises of the temple were sanitized by the Fire Service personnel on Saturday afternoon.

The authorities have also put up barricades outside the temple to ensure smooth darshan and proper implementation of the COVID-19 norms.

Besides, the sevayats entering the temple on Sunday had to show their identity cards as well as COVID-19 negative reports.

For those who have not undergone the COVID-19 test, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has put up temporary test camps near the temple.
