New Delhi: The updated Henley and Partners Passport Index have come out with a new ranking of the world’s most powerful passports, and India ranks 85th on the list for 2021. Last year. India held the 84th position.
The rankings are determined by the number of countries that a passport permits the holder to travel visa-free as a tourist.
The Indian passport got a score of 58, which means Indian passport holders can visit 58 countries without a prior visa, India Today reported.
Japan, once again topped the list with a visa-free score of 191. The nation has been holding the position for three consecutive years, either solely or jointly, with Singapore. This year, Singapore was in the second position with 190 countries.
As for the third position, South Korea and Germany jointly shared the rank with each scoring 189 points.

The current rankings, however, do not account for the temporary restrictions that have been implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
