Washington DC: The proposed peace talks scheduled in Pakistan for the weekend hang by a thread with Iran demanding specific ceasefire preconditions to be met before they deliberate with the US negotiating team headed by Vice-President JD Vance.
Sensing Iran’s hard and stubborn stance, Donald Trump was back to his threat-issuing ways, saying that the United States is loading up the warships with the “best ammunition”.
“We have a reset going. We’re loading up the ships with the best ammunition, the best weapons ever made, even better than what we did previously, and we blew them apart,” he told New York Post in a telephonic interview.
“And if we don’t have a deal, we will be using them, and we will be using them very effectively,” he added.
“We’re going to find out in about 24 hours. We’re going to know soon,” was the message Trump sent shortly after Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf demanded that ceasefire in Lebanon ceasefire and release of Iran’s blocked assets must be implemented prior to the commencement of negotiations.
If Iran does take part in the Islamabad meeting, Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are expected to represent the Islamic Republic.
