Talcher: BJD MLA Braja Kishore Pradhan on Thursday blamed the Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) for the tragic mishap at Bharatpur coalmine in Talcher on Tuesday night in which four workers were killed.
“The MCL authorities, without taking any precautionary measures, engaged workers in exploration of underground coal in the coalmine, which had already been declared a red zone. I will take up the matter with the Coal Ministry,” Pradhan told the media here.
Talking about the rescue operations, he said a team of the MCL is engaged in the rescue work with the help of three poclain and three JCB machines.
The rescue operation, which was delayed in the morning due to rain, is now going on a war-footing, he added.
