Locals block roads over IOCL labourer’s death
Jagatsinghpur: A group of locals staged blockades at two places at Paradip on Thursday demanding adequate compensation to the next of kin of contractual labourer Santosh Sahu, who died on the premises of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) refinery the previous day, and job to one of his family members at the refinery.
While Sahu’s family members staged a dharna near IOCL’s gate no-4, some local residents blocked Raniagarh and Trilochanpur bridges.
The labourer fell unconscious while working with fellow workers on Wednesday morning. He was rushed to a local hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Following the incident, a group of labourers had resorted to blockade seeking compensation to his family.
