Bhubaneswar: A youth was severely thrashed by locals at Sundarpada here on Saturday after he allegedly tried to rape a minor girl.
According to sources, the parents had gone out leaving their 9-year-old daughter alone in the house this morning.
Finding the front door open, Bijay Pradhan barged into the house and tried to rape the girl. Hearing the girl scream, her parents retraced their steps and caught hold of the youth. Soon, locals gathered at the spot. They dragged the youth out of the house and severely thrashed him after tying him to an electric pole.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and arrested the youth.
