Berhampur: A school headmaster of Ganjam district has set a unique precedent by distributing school books at the homes of students on a trolley rickshaw during the current lockdown.
A video of the headmaster of the Government Primary School at Podamari in Sanakhemundi block, Sadashiv Padhi, has gone viral on social media.
Padhi is accompanied by lady teachers in this noble venture to address the plight of students who have been deprived of education for more than a month due to the closure of schools during the lockdown.
The headmaster’s initiative has won praise from several quarters in including Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange and senior BJP leader Bhrugu Buxipatra.
Notably, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das had directed the District Education Officers (DEOs) to provide school books to students of Classes I to VIII at their homes to help in their studies during the lockdown period.
