Looking For A Safe Haven During COVID? Head To Himachal Pradesh!
Months after the coronavirus induced lockdowns, people are showing an inclination to bring life back to normalcy taking all the precautions.
Since international travel is not possible under the prevailing circumstances, people are more than willing to explore the beauty of their own country.
In this hot and clammy weather, what would be a better option but to head for the hills.
A good option is Himachal Pradesh, where the state government has completely lifted the lockdown and is welcoming tourists without an e-pass and COVID report.
The heavenly beautiful Himachal Pradesh has a number of hidden, adventurous, and secret places filled with natural beauty where you can forget all about COVID and its implications.
So, let us embark on a tour of Himachal Pradesh!
1. Key Monastery, Spiti Valley:
Situated at 4100m above sea level, Key Monastery or Kye Gompa is on the edge of a hill, overlooking the Spiti River. It looks even more beautiful from a distance as if it is hanging from an almost cliff-like hill. One can witness the morning chanting and prayer session of monks in their trademark red garments, creating a beautiful ambience. Tourists can go there via train from Shimla or on car or public transport.
2. Churdhar Peak, Sirmaur:
One of the best places for trekking, the Churdhar Peak rises to an elevation of 12000ft from sea level and is the highest in the outer Himalayas. It is also known as Churchandni (Bangle of Snow) and has spectacular landscapes. Trekkers tread over small glaciers on their way to the Churdhar summit, which has moderate to heavy snowfall (average of 33 feet snow). Often, the Shirgul Temple gets buried under it. On clear sunny days, the Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines, Gangetic plains, the Sutlej river, Kailash peak, and hills of Shimla and Chakrata can be seen.
3. Kaza, Lahaul, and Spiti:
The beautiful Kaza is located at an altitude of about 12,500 ft from sea level and is one of the coldest and most beautiful places of Himachal Pradesh. Kaza is surrounded by high mountains, crystal clear rivers, streams, and barren landscapes interspersed with green landscapes and meadows. It is a marvellous destination with several beautiful palaces, monasteries, gompas, historical buildings, mountain terrains, and trekking tracks, etc. One can easily reach this amazing spot from Kinnaur Valley and Lahaul Valley via cab or bus.
4. Renukaji, Sirmaur:
Renukaji is one of the best places in Himachal for a variety of reasons. The natural site offers you architectural sites which show the delicate work of the artists. Renuka Lake is a mirror-like lake that reflects the image of the Goddess. It is 365 kilometers away from Delhi, one can go there via car or bus.
5. Kibber, Lahaul & Spiti Valley:
The incredible Kibber is located in Spiti Valley at 4205m above sea level and is the highest motorable village in the world. This scenic village is situated in a cold desert, surrounded by breathtaking mountains, barren landscapes, and green meadows. It offers a pollution-free atmosphere, wildlife sanctuary (with snow-dwelling animals such as Ibex, Blue Sheep, Red Fox, Tibetan Woolly Hare, Himalayan Wolf, Lynx, Pika, Tibetan Wild Ass, and Snow Leopard), Dandmachan Peak for trekking or mountaineering and also for photography.
