Bhubaneswar: Looters are on the prowl in Odisha capital and have thrown an open challenge at Commissionerate Police by striking thrice in quick succession.
On Tuesday, three miscreants tricked a shopkeeper again and looted Rs 6,000 from his shop at Jaykishan market, Unit-3 here.
According to sources, one among them when to the shop and asked for a malted milk hot drink powder. He paid him with 18 Rs 10 notes, a torn Rs 50 and a Rs 5 note. As he left the shop, an associate of his drew the attention of the shopkeeper to the torn note. As he rushed out to confront the consumer, another person emerged from his hiding, looted Rs 6,000 from the cash counter and fled.
Notably, similar loots were carried out at two medicine stores at IRC Village and Badagad in the city recently. All three incidents have been captured on CCTV cameras.
Police, however, are yet to track them down, the sources added.
