Bhubaneswar: Union Railways, Communications & EIT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is likely to visit Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
According to sources, he will be on a day trip to the state and is scheduled to watch the semi-final matches of the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup at Kalinga Stadium in the Odisha capital.
Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany have sealed their berths in the semi-finals. While World No. 1 Australia will face fourth-ranked Germany, defending champion Belgium will take on Netherlands in a repeat of last edition’s title clash for a final spot.
On Thursday, Team Indian, which had crashed out of the tournament, took out their frustration of failing to reach the quarterfinals by pumping in 8 goals without reply against Japan on Thursday evening. It was India’s biggest victory in the World Cup, surpassing their 7-0 triumph against Ghana in the 1975 edition which they won.
