Low-Pressure Induced Rain Continues In Bhubaneswar, Cuttack & Other Coastal Dists Of Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Low pressure-induced intense spells of rain continued at several parts in coastal Odisha, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, on Wednesday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the yellow warning of light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning for some places in Dhenkanal, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar, Jajpur, and Mayurbhanj districts, till 3.30 pm. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strike.
Very heavy rain has been lashing Odisha since the last 24 hours with the formation of the low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal-Odisha coast on Tuesday morning. The system is likely to bringing more rains to the state while moving west-northwestwards across North Odisha & South Jharkhand during the next 2 days.
The weather agency has issued orange warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) for one or two places in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, Sambalpur, Angul, Bargarh and Jharsuguda till 8.30 am on Thursday. Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) may also occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Ganjam.
Thunderstorm with lightning has also been sounded for one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Puri and Khurda.
The heavy rain warning continues for the subsequent two days.
