Bhubaneswar: With a low pressure most likely to form off Odisha coast within 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in south coastal districts of the state.
“Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over coastal Odisha and neighbourhood, a low-pressure area is most likely to form over the west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts within 24 hours. As a result, there will be heavy rainfall over the south coastal districts for next five days upto July 14,” the IMD said in an evening bulletin on Saturday.
It also said there will be moderate rainfall with thundershower in the remaining districts during the period.
In view of the prolonged rainfall, IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts:
July 10
1. Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Rayagada.
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput.
July 11
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam and Rayagada.
July 12
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.
July 13
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Mayurbhanj.
July 14
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
