Odisha Braces For Heavy Rain With Low Pressure Likely Over Gangetic West Bengal In 24 Hours
Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area likely to form over Gangetic West Bengal during the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.
“A cyclonic circulation lies over South Bangladesh & adjoining Gangetic West Bengal extending upto 4.5 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. Under its influence, a low-pressure area likely to form over Gangetic West Bengal during the next 24 hours.”
The weather agency has warned of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning in several districts of Odisha till 8.30 am on Friday (August 16).
Heavy rain may lash one or two places in Bhadrak, Balasore Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Puri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nabarngpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri. Thunderstorm with lightening is also likely at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Angul and Dhenkanal.
On August 16, heavy rain may continue at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Bargarh districts.
Heavy rain is likely at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Bargarh during the subsequent 24 hours.
Heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir and Bargarh on August 18 and continue in Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Sonepur districts on August 19.
