Bhubaneswar: There will be heavy rainfall in southern Odisha districts under the influence of a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.
According to an IMD bulletin, the low-pressure has formed over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts with an associated cyclonic circulation extending up to midtropospheric level tilting southwestwards.
Under its influence, there will be heavy rainfall over the southern districts of the state from July 11 which will continue till July 14.
The bulletin further said that apart from the southern districts, there will be light to moderate rainfall in the remaining districts under the influence of a trough running from central parts of west Rajasthan to the low-pressure area over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal across east Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, south Chhattisgarh, Odisha and north coastal Andhra Pradesh.
In view of the heavy rainfall, IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts.
July 11
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur.
July 12
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur.
July 13
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.
July 14
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur and Koraput.
