Bhubaneswar: There will be heavy rainfall in Odisha due to a low-pressure area that is going to form over the Bay of Bengal in the next 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned on Sunday.

The IMD said the cyclonic circulation will form over the west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts.

Stating that the south-west monsoon in the state has become active as most parts of south Odisha have already received moderate to heavy rainfall, the IMD said there will be heavy rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places from Sunday afternoon till August 18.

Besides, there will no change in the weather condition as the state will receive more rainfall from August 19, the bulletin added.

Due to the inclement weather, fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along the Odisha coast, west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal for two days on August 17 and 18 and those in the deep sea are advised to return by the morning of August 17.

In view of the heavy rainfall, yellow warnings are issued for the following districts.

August 15
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.

Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack and Dhenkanal.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Nuapada, Balangir and Kalahandi.

August 16
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Kalahandi.

Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Balasore, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal and Balangir.

August 17
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada and Kandhamal.

Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur and Balasore.

August 18
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar,  Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Kandhamal, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Angul and Nabarangpur.
