New Delhi: Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) consumers who wish to receive doorstep delivery of cooking gas cylinders will now need a one-time password (OTP) for the process, India Today reported.
Oil companies are implementing a new system, Delivery Authentication Code (DAC), to prevent theft of cylinders and also for identifying the right customer, media reports added.
The DAC process for home delivery of LPG cylinders will be first implemented in 100 smart cities. It will be expanded if the transition is smooth for customers. A pilot project is already underway in Jaipur in Rajasthan, India Today reported.
Here is the process
When a customer books a cylinder, he/she will get a code on the registered mobile number.
The code has to be shown at the time of delivery of the LPG cylinder.
If a mobile number is not updated, the delivery person will update the customer’s number on the spot using an application.
The system will not be applicable to commercial cylinders.
