Puri: Prohibitory orders will be in force around Chandrabhaga beach in Odisha’s Konark to prevent any congregation on the occasion of Magha Saptami on February 7.
The district administration has barred devotees from taking a holy dip at Chandrabhaga beach in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
The presiding deities of Konark, Lord Tribeniswara, Lord Aisaneswara and Lord Dakhineswara, will be given a customary dip in the sacred pond as per rituals followed by only the servitors in adherence to the COVID protocols.
Every year thousands of people used to gather for the holy dip early in the morning of Magha Saptami to offer prayers to the rising Sun here as there an age-old belief that it would rid them of their sins and diseases.
