Bhubaneswar: The lifting of Mahadeepa (sacred lamp) atop Lingaraj Temple in the Odisha capital was delayed by over 30 minutes on Wednesday.
While it was decided at a preparatory meeting that the rituals on the day would be completed in time and the Mahadeepa will be placed on ‘Dhadhinauti’ (temple crown) of the temple by 10 pm, some rituals were delayed.
As per information shared by the Brahman nijog of the temple, sandhya shupa of the Lord was slightly delayed. Thereafter, maha snan and then badasinghar besha would be performed.
The Mahadeep will be lifted after the completion of all rituals, sources said.
