Maharashtra Allows Schools To Reopen For Classes 1 To 12 From Jan 24

Mumbai: Maharashtra will be among the first states to reopen schools after the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic forced closure of educational institutions across India.

Following a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday, state School Education minister Varsha Gaikwad announced that schools will resume offline education from January 24 for classes 1 to 12.

Parents’ association and several politicians had submitted proposals to the CM, urging him to consider reopening of schools as students were facing massive losses. Following meetings with all stakeholders, Thackeray gave the nod for reopening of schools.

The government, however, left the final decision on local authorities, like BMC for Mumbai.

School managements will have to strictly adhere to guidelines, which will be released by the state government soon.

Students have been advised to stay in touch with their schools before going for offline classes.
